The History of Gananatha Nayanar

gaNan^Atha n^AyanAr did the very much important and promotional service for thae Lord and shaivam. It is the kind of service which is very much required now. He didn't stop at doing service on his own but rather trained a lot of enthusiatic people to do the service. This organised service will give very good results. All the great teachers of shaivam and sanathana dharma in general insist on the company of good people - devotees. The collective worship is always followed and considered superier since a long time. It gives way for people to learn, share good thoughts and serve the society ina much better way. If our ancient sages had not passed their marvelous explorations through their disciples and books but had they only concentrated on thier personalised service and development, the later generations would have walked in dark paths. Oh Lord! Let your grace flow through each of us to the entire Universe.

Gananatha Nayanar - The History of Gananatha Nayanar

chIrkAzi , where the Immortal with His inseperable shakti resided in the time of one deluge, where the prodigy who brought the pride of shaivam to shine like the Sun - thirunyAnachampan^dhar (1) was born, was the place where gaNan^Atha n^AyanAr was born. He came in the family that considers the holy vEdas as their life. He excelled in his endeavours to do all the kinds of services to the elegant Lord who appeared in the boat there. His love for that Luminant Lord was overwhelming; his inclination to do the services was surplus; his mindset for doing the perfect work for that Perfect God was powerful; hence his hardwork was blessed by the hara to be great. Like the pond which distributes the water it has accumulated to the entire town, he trained a number of interested blessed souls in His work. Lot of people were attracted by his perfection in love and service like the bees are attracted by the flower full of honey. It is the service that is the ultimate worship.

He trained them in many fields depending upon the skills required and the skills the persons possess. Growing and maintaining the gardens in the temple that give the garlands for the God, plucking the fresh flowers of flowing honey, making many mind-stealing garlands with them for the most beautiful mahEsha , collecting chill and clean water as well as cow-milk etc. for the anointment of the Lord of creatures, removing the dust from the temple of the Resurrector who removes the rot from the heart of real devotees, washing the floors and vessels, illuminating the abode of the Luminant with oil lamps, chanting of charactors of the Charming shiva were some among the services he trained them. He led an entire mass in the path of liberation. He transformed the society to be disciplined and delightful by doing the dearest of all services to the Lord.

With the wealth of truth, love and service he led his wedded life leading to the achievement of the goal of the family life. Offering respect and doing the needful he was a servant of devotees. He had a great respect for the boon of this world, thirunyAnachampan^dhar who removed the pests of false and immature philosaphy. His words and thoughts inspired him a lot. He lived for those high philosaphies transmitting the light to all around. He became the gaNan^Atha (Head of the group) of the shiva devotees (the soldiers of the Lord) at the abode of the Omnipresent. Let the splendid service of gaNan^Atha n^AyanAr lead and stay in the mind.
