Meaning of song:

Getting alms in the town along with the crowd of bUthas,
You became the Kin Who looks for (well being of kin) and eats.
Residing in the thirumizalai of known four-vedins,
in the passion to listen to music along with thamiz,
You gave coins everyday. Oh the One Who took
rare cool thiruvIzimizalai, bless, me - the slave, too.

Notes:
1. cundharar highlights the way God is pleased
with the thamiz songs of cambandhar and appar
- the two great saints he always adores. When
there was a famine around thiruvIzimizalai,
cambandhar and appar were there. God gave them
a golden coin each everyday and with that they
gave food to the devotees in the whole area.
God could have given a heap of gold coins to
them instead of one everyday, but why didn't He?
cundharar says, God at thiruvIzimizalai wanted to
hear the thamiz of these two saints everyday and
that is why the day-to-day coin giving!! God gave
cundharar gold for this padhikam.
2. pAriDam - bUtham; pali - alms.
