Explanation of song:

Without (any) inattention, as the one going
to worship the King of imaiyOr, the Master,
melting in mind, blissfully the Lady umA
went to worship. Seeing that,
(God) exhibiting and terrorizing with the flood,
(She) frightened, fearfully ran and hugged.
The cunning Ekambar Who showed up then,
our Lord - to see Him, I, the slave, got the eye.

Notes:
1. A very lively picture of the Goddess kAmAkshi
worshipping Lord Ekambar comes up on reading
this great song. The Goddess heard from the Lord
the Agamas. She wanted to worship God in love
through the ways prescribed in Agama. While She
was worshipping the God in sand lingam the playful
Lord made the kambai river flowing there to flood.
She was fully frightened and anxious - not for
Herself, but for the Lord She had installed in the lingam.
The Lady, Who is verily same as the Omniscient God,
with the anxiety out of Her love, hugged the shivalingam
- to protect It from the flood!! Her breasts and bangles
made mark on the God. God stood there blessing Her.
She, the Mother, showed us the way - the real essence
of Agamas - to become the love itself on God, with
the self completely lost.
2. This marvelous padhikam was sung by the saint,
as he got the sight in the left eye.
3. eLgaL - indifference; veruTTal - threatening;
veruvi - afraid.
