Meaning of song:

If the donkey laments about carrying (fragrant) saffron,
(people) detest. The same bad way I, muddling and
disturbed inside, got into the ruinous whirl-head, my Mother!
Oh mind, what will you do crying? For the moron, me
who does not say, "Oh Beautiful-eyed! hara!",
bless with a way of upliftment, oh the Lord of my
father residing at thiruviDaimarudhUr!

Notes:
1. Donkey as an animal does not realize that it
is carrying very nice saffron, but laments the
same way as it carries any other load. Those
who know the value of saffron would look down
at the animal that is unable to appreciate the
material. The same way even though into Your
service, I am thinking I am carrying the load of
service, without the sense to appreciate and enjoy
doing the same.
2. Due to the disturbance in me I got into the
whirl head. The whirl starts very slowly that one
finds enjoyable or even does not notice. As the
travel into the whirl continues it becomes fast and
inescapable and finally throws out ruining one.
Oh Lord, without getting ruined in the whirls
bless me to hold on to You, making the journey
to Bliss safe and enjoyable.
3. eyththal - lament; kaippar - detest; izuthai - waste.
