துன்பம் நும்மைத் தொழாத நாள்கள் என்பாரும்
இன்பம் நும்மை ஏத்து நாள்கள் என்பாரும்
நும்பின் எம்மை நுழையப் பணியே என்பாரும்
அன்பன் ஆரூர் ஆதிரை நாளால் அதுவண்ணம்

Meaning:
Gloomy are those days on which Your worship 
    was not made, so say some.
Gleeful are those days on which You 
    were hailed, so say some.
Govern us to enter in by following
    You, so say some.
Glory of the thiruvAdhirai day at the thiruvArUr 
    of the Lovely Lord (is so).

Notes:
1. If shiva means Auspice, it is the days spent
in thinking about shiva would be the glorious days.
Gloomy are the days on which that Ultimate 
Auspicious is not embedded in thoughts.
2. This is the padhikam in which appar described
to cambandhar the glory and grandness of the 
thiruvAdhirai festival at thiruvArUr.
