ಅರ್ಥರೇಖೆಯಿದ್ದಲ್ಇ ಫಲವಏನು, ಆಯುಷ್ಯರೇಖೆ ಇಲ್ಲದನ್ನಕ್ಕರ!
ಹಂದಿಯ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರಾಉದವಿದ್ದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಲವೇನು!
ಅಂಧಕನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ದರ್ಪಣವಿದ್ದು ಫಲವೇನು!
ಮರ್ಕಟನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಣಿಕ್ಯವಿದ್ದು ಫಲವೇನು!
ನಮ್ಮ ಕೂಡಲಸಂಗನ ಶರಣರನರಿಯದವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ
ಲಿಂಗವಿದ್ದು ಫಲವೇನು! ಶಿವಪಥವನರಿಯದನ್ನಕ್ಕ್.

Meaning of the Prayer Song:

 What is the use of having signs of prosperity, when there is no sign of life longevity!
What is the use of Chandrayuda when it is with a pig!
What is the use of a mirror in the hands of a blind!
What is the use of ruby in the hands of a monkey!
In the hands of those, who do not know the (glory of) the devotees of Kudalasangamadeva,
for those who do not know what the state of Shiva is, what is the use of Shivalinga?

 Notes: 

1. Basavanna insists in his song we need to hold what is the 
core essence. If not even when we have got very precious thing
in our hand, there would be little utility.

We have got the great association with the Supreme Shiva.
Let us make sure that we use that association to stay 
ever joyful with Him!
