தூண்டா விளக்கின் நற்சோதீ தொழுவார் தங்கள் துயர் தீர்ப்பாய்
பூண்டாய் எலும்பைப் புரம் மூன்றும் பொடியாச் செற்ற புண்ணியனே
பாண்டாழ் வினைகள் அவை தீர்க்கும் பரமா பழையனூர் மேய
ஆண்டா ஆலங்காடா உன் அடியார்க்கு அடியேன் ஆவேனே.

Meaning of song:

Oh the Virtuous Flame of unkindled lamp!
You relieve the sufferings of the worshippers!
You wore the bones!
Oh the Meritorious Who quashed the three puras into dust!
Oh the Supreme Who removes the deep and old vinais!
Oh the Governor residing at thiruppazaiyanUr!
Oh the Lord of thiruvAlaNgADu!
I will become the slave of Your slaves!

Notes:
1. pazaiyanUr is the town and AlangAdu is the adjoining
forest abode.
2. cundharar did not want to step in with his foot at the 
holy abode of thiruvAlankADu, where kAraikkAl ammaiyAr 
had walked with head. So he stayed outside and sang this
padhikam that, "I would become the slave of Your slaves!"
He marvels in the reverence for the devotees.
3. While others are all kindled lamps, God is the unkindled
lamp that kindles the light in us.
