Shakti Shows Shiva - From Kenopanishad

Prayer of the Day

Prayer from Kena Upanishad

सा ब्रह्मॆति हॊवाच
ब्रह्मणॊ वा एतद् विजयॆ महीयध्वमिति
ततॊ हैव विदाञ्चकार ब्रह्मॆति ॥ ४.१ ॥

Hymn as Romanized text

Om

tatO haiva vidA~jchakAra brahmEti || 4.1 ||

(sA brahma iti ha uvAcha
brahmaNO vA etad vijayE mahIyadhvam iti
tatO ha Eva vidA~jchakAra brahma iti || )

Om

Meaning of the Prayer Hymn:

She (Uma) replied, "It is Brahman"!
"It is in the victory of Brahman that you get your glory!"
Then only he came to know that It was Brahman!

 Notes:

1. mahIyadvam - glorified; vidA~jchakAra - knew

2. The Shakti - who is both Tirodana as well as Krupa Shakti -
shows to the mature soul the Supreme Shiva. That is
what is happening in this Upanishadic episode.
