Meaning of the Prayer Song:

Oh Shankara! With either Vajrini or Shankini or Kamalini etc
Bharata has prescribed the expressions for the various divines.
For You, the position prescribed is the folded hands on the head!

 Notes:

1. upadiShTa - prescribed; spRusha - reaching to;
karapuTA~jjali - salutation with folded hands.

2. Haradattar in this verse emphasizes that Lord Shiva is the
One salutable by quoting what the Bharata muni has prescribed in the Natya Shastra.

In the Natya Shastra Bharata muni has prescribed various mudras for various divines.
Vajrini mudra for Indra; Shankhini mudra for Vishnu; Kamalini mudra for Brahma.

By the extension of the same, Bharata muni could have prescribed Trishulini mudra
for Lord Rudra as that is the weapon in the hands of the Lord.

However, since Lord Shiva is the ultimate God who accepts all our salutations,
Bharata muni has prescribed folded hands held at the top of the head as the mudra!!

He is the Lord, Who is worthy of our salutations.
He is the Lord, Who ultimately accepts the salutations done to other divines.
He is the Lord, Who never salutes anyone.
