Is Supreme God Known or Unknown? - From Kenopanishad

From Kenopanishad

Prayer of the Day

Prayer from Kena Upanishad

Hymn as Romanized text

Om

anyadEva tat viditAdathO aviditAdadhi |
iti shushruma pUrvEShAM yE nastad vyAchachakShirE || 4 ||

(anyat Eva tat viditAt athO aviditAt adhi |
iti shushruma pUrvEShAM yE naH tat vyAchachakShirE || )

Om

Meaning of the Prayer Hymn:

Otherwise, more than the known about It, unknown is more.
Thus we have heard from the predecessors, who have explained this to us!

 Notes:

1. anyat - otherwise; viditAt - from the known;
shushruma - heard; vyAchachakShirE - explained.

2. About the Supreme, the unknown is more than the known.
If the unknown is more are we blinding following It?
No, this means that it is impossible to know it all about the Supreme.
However we need to know enough about It
to meaningfully seek It!
