Mahabubabad: The Garla police on Monday arrested seven persons in connection with thefts which took place at various temples in last two years in Mahabubabad, Khammam and Bhadradri-kothagudem districts. Police recovered gold, silver, bronze idols and cash worth Rs 6,85,200 from them.

The arrested were identified as Tejavath Chandu, Angothu Raghu, Guguloth Babu Rao and Daravath Srinu of Kotya Naik thanda, a hamlet in Pocharam gram panchayat. And Kukudia Raja, a goldsmith from Garla Battu; Venkanna, a scrap dealer from Garudepally, Kamepally GP; and Runavath Sudhakar, a gold smith from Garla village.

“While the first four committed the thefts, the latter used to purchase the stolen articles from them,” said Mahabubabad SP N Koti Reddy during a press meet held at Garla on Monday.

The gang was involved in 26 offences. The police arrested them based on CCTV footage evidence.

He also called upon the villagers where CCTV were not installed to come forward to set up CCTVs as it would help in keeping a check on crimes and help in identifying criminals. The SP congratulated Garla Sub Inspector Srinivas Reddy for good work.

The UT police have failed to make any headway in two temple thefts reported earlier this year from Sector 24 and 16 where thieves decamped with gold and silver articles worth several lakhs.

On January 8, thieves broke into a temple in Sector 24 and made off with silver articles, including ornaments, worth around Rs 12 lakh. The CCTV footage of cameras installed in the temple showed two persons committing the theft. The incident was reported between 1 am and 1.30 am.

Almost two and a half months later, on March 22, three masked men entered the Sanatan Dharam temple in Sector 16 and decamped with Rs 50,000 and silver articles, including ornaments, worth around Rs 5 lakh. Images of the accused were captured in CCTV cameras installed at the temple. A few CCTV cameras were later disconnected by the accused. The accused had entered the temple around 1.20 am and left at 1.40 am.

Both theft incidents remain unsolved. A police source said both cases had some similarities and it was suspected that the same accused were involved in both incidents. “The time during which the thieves struck was also the same,” said a police source.

Crime is ever on the rise in the coastal region. After thefts in Koni, in broad daylight, four days ago, incidents of thefts in temple and shops at night have come to light.
Thieves had broken in through the back door of Nandikeshwara temple, Asodu
Benkikan in Kalavara grama panchayat limits in Kundapur taluk and had taken
away the silver cover of the temple door, the halo of Nandikeshwara deity
idol and two chains, collectively worth nearly Rs ten lacs. They later
entered the administration office of the temple and took away the CCTV DV
and CC Camera from there.
Thefts have occurred in the mobile shop belonging to Rajnish at BH cross on
the Basruru- Siddapura state highway. Thieves took away a computer, seven
mobiles and mobile spare parts worth more than one lac.
Thefts also occurred in Anagalli, where the thieves entered Mata Electrical
shop after carefully breaking the shutter lock and decamped with Rs 35
thousand cash and other spare parts. The total loss of the shop is Rs 80
thousand, said shop owner Dinaker. All three incidents have been registered
at the Kundapur police station.Circle inspector Raghava Padil, sub-inspector Nasir Hussain and forensic experts have visited the place and conducted the investigation.

Kochi: In separate incidents of burglary, two temples in North Paravoor here in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Fifty sovereigns of gold and cash were stolen.

Robbers stole thirty sovereigns of temple ornaments from the Trikkapuram temple along with Rs 65,000.

Meanwhile twenty sovereigns of gold ornaments and the hundial were stolen from Sreenarayana temple.

The burglars entered the sanctum sanctorum of the Thrikkapuram temple after breaking through the roof.

As they could not find any valuables inside, they went for the temple's office. They stole the gold and money from the office. They also took away the CCTV cameras installed at the Sree Narayana temple.

A police probe is on into the incidents.

Three persons, including a top executive of a public sector undertaking (PSU), have been arrested in connection with the theft of panchaloha idols, worth about Rs.25 lakh, from Sri Agneeswarar Temple at Rajavallipuram near here on November 27.

Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, the Inspector General of Police, South Zone, Sanjeev Kumar, said the special team, which was formed after the culprits stole 15 idols, happened to interrogate C. Murali (33) of Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh, now working with a Tuticorin-based public sector enterprise, when he filed a complaint with the police that he was attacked by his driver, G. Sivakumar (30) of Pudukottai in Tuticorin district and his associates as they tried to kidnap him for ransom.

During the course of interrogation, the police found that Mr. Murali, a M.Tech. Graduate in Chemical Engineering from Osmania University, Andra Pradhesh, was the mastermind behind the theft of priceless panchaloha idols and he sustained injuries when Sivakumar and his friends - C. Kannan (31) of Srivaikundam and Kaaliraj of Vadakku Chezhiyanallur near Maanur in Tirunelveli – attacked Murali after an argument over the sharing of booty.

He reportedly admitted to committing the crime with the assistance of Sivakumar, Kannan and Kaaliraj.

The police also nabbed Sivakumar and Kannan and recovered 11 idols from them, who had abandoned two more in a secluded place close to the temple.

The special team, led by Thaazhaiyooththu ASP Rupesh Kumar Meena and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sankarankovil, Balakrishnan, also found that Kaaliraj, Kannan and Sivakumar were involved in the theft of the ‘kalasam’ of Sri Ambalavaanar Temple, Maanur, Amman’s ‘thaali’ at Sri Muppidathiyamman Temple, Azhagiyapaandiapuram, and Sri Sundaraachiyamman Temple, Manappadaiveedu and the crown of Amman at Sri Durgai Amman Temple at Vadakku Chezhiyanallur.

GADAG: Gold coins dating back to the early 19th century were found in
Gadag on Saturday.
The workers who were digging earth to* lay foundation for a house in
Mulgund town* stumbled upon an earthen pot with gold coins. Site owner *Shobha
Hiremath* was surprised to see the coins and they cross checked to
ascertain if the coins were real.

Shobha wrote an application to the* police as per the **procedure and
handed over** the coins.* Each coin weighs up to 3-4 grams. One side of
the coin has images of gods and goddesses and Hindi written on another
side. The coins weigh 243 gram.

வெள்ளிப் பொருள்களைப் பறிமுதல் செய்தனர். போலீஸாரின் விசாரணையில் அம்மன்
நகையைத் திருடியவர்,  தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்டம் கழுகுமலையைச் சேர்ந்த
அருள்செல்வம் என்பவரது மனைவி சண்முகசுந்தரி என்பதும் இவர் தற்போது நெல்லை
மாவட்டம் குருவிகுளம் அருகில் உள்ள  செட்டிக்குளத்தில் வசித்து வருவதும்,
 தெரியவந்தது. மேலும், இவர்மீது நெல்லை மாவட்டம் குருவிகுளம், தூத்துக்குடி
மாவட்டம்  கழுகுமலை மற்றும் விருதுநகர் மாவட்டம் இருக்கன்குடி ஆகிய காவல்
நிலையங்களில் திருட்டு வழக்குகளும் நிலுவையில் உள்ளன.

இந்தக் கோயில் இந்து சமய அறநிலையத் துறையின் கீழ் இருந்தும் முறையான
பாதுகாப்பு ஏதும்  இல்லை. கோயிலுக்கு வரும் பக்தர்கள் மற்றும் திருடர்களைக்
கண்டறிய போதிய கண்காணிப்புக் கேமிராகூட இல்லை. போதிய பாதுகாவலர்களும் இல்லை"
என பக்தர்கள் திருக்கோயில் நிர்வாகம்மீது குற்றம்சாட்டுகின்றனர். ஒரு பெண்
தனியாக  கோயிலின் கருவறைக்குள் நுழைந்து  அம்மன் சிலையில் கிடந்த நகைகளைத்
திருடிய சம்பவம் கோவில்பட்டியில் பரபரப்பை எற்படுத்தியுள்ளது.

Thanjavur(TN), Jan 27 A bronze idol of goddess Mariamman was found stolen
from a temple in a village in this district, police said today.

The incident came to light when a staff had gone to open the centuries-old
temple last evening and noticed the grill gate broken open, they said.

Immediately, she informed her husband Packirisami, who also works at the
place of worship, who inturn informed the villagers.

Later, they all had entered the temple premises and found an iron box
containing the 20-kg bronze idol stolen.

The idol is worth several lakhs, police added.

The villagers said the idol was earlier kept in the Sivan temple in
Marungapallam village till 1974.

Based on a complaint, a case has been registered and investigation is on,
they said

Raghunathji idol stolen from Kullu temple

The Chief Minister accepted that it was a serious lapse, and that greater
vigil ought to

The priceless and much loved idol of Lord Raghunath, believed to be
hundreds of years old, was stolen from its home at the Raghunathji temple
in Kullu on Monday night, plunging the town into anger and gloom. The idol
of Lord Hanuman and several pieces of antique jewellery were also stolen.

Raghunathji is the presiding deity of Kullu, and his chariot leads the
historic Kullu Dussehra celebrations, at which some 400 idols of other
deities are brought to pay obeisance to the Lord.

The theft at the* temple in the 16th century Rupi palace of the erstwhile
raja of Kullu* was discovered early Tuesday morning. Danvendra Singh, the
son of Raja Maheshwar Singh, reported the theft to police. Maheshwar Singh,
a rebel BJP leader who now represents Kullu in the Himachal Pradesh
assembly as an MLA of his Himachal Lokhit Party, is the chief kardar
(servant) of Lord Raghunath. He met Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on
Tuesday, and the CM made a suo motu statement in the assembly, currently in
session at Dharamshala, saying strenuous efforts were being made to nab the
culprits.

The thieves, who appeared to have broken into the temple from its roof
using a rope, took away a gold locket, the gold-plated ‘Narasimha Shila’
stone, a silver idol of Ganesh, a pair of ‘charan padukas’, a silver
‘aachmani’, a silver shankh stand, a gold chain and several other antique
items apart from the idols of Raghunathji and Hanuman. Thieves had broken
into the temple earlier in January too, but had failed to take away any
idols. The temple employs private security personnel. Former chief minister
Prem Kumar Dhumal said, “The thieves used the same modus operandi as in
January this year. Ironically no lessons were learnt from the earlier
incident. CCTV security cameras were put up in the temple complex, but
there were none in the temple itself or its sanctum sanctorum.”

The Chief Minister accepted that it was a serious lapse, and that greater
vigil ought to have been kept after the January incident.

The superintendent of police, Kullu and other senior officers visited the
spot. Six special teams and a dog squad have been put on the job to track
down the thieves. Police have registered cases under IPC sections 457
(trespass and break-in) and 380 (theft), and all districts have been put on
alert. Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar said, “Investigations are
being done along scientific lines using all inputs. It is difficult to
estimate the value of the stolen idols.” He said that the *temple was in
the private palace*, to which no one except Maheshwar Singh’s family and
the priests had access.

Reports revel that :

“Hindus in Bangladesh are in shock following the *suspension of worship at
the capital’s Dhakeshwari National Temple*, the most important place of
worship for the minority community in the country, *after a theft* on *Sun
Jan 09 2011*.

Gold (About 200 bhori – 1 Bhori = 0.34 ounce) ornaments, and silver
ornaments (five-six bhori) and Taka 4.5 lakh have been stolen from the
temple, said Tapan Bhattacharya, the in-charge of the state-owned
Dhakeshwari Temple.

Worship at the ancient Dhakeswari National Temple has been suspended for an
indefinite period following the theft, the private *bdnews24* online
reported today.

*Known as the ‘National Temple’, Dhakeshwari means “Goddess of Dhaka”.*

Babul Devnath, the Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Worship Committee,
expressed deep concern over the incident as it was the third major temple
where theft has taken place in less than a month. The Hindus in the country
are in shock.

*“A theft took place at Baradeswari Kali Temple on December 12 and another
at Jaykali Temple on December 22. We demand proper investigations into all
these incidents,” *he was quoted as saying in the report.

Bhattacharya said Ratan Chakrawarty and Nitya Gopal Chakrawarty, the priets
at Dhakeswari, had locked the temple around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Around 6 a.m. today they found three of the four locks missing, while the
remaining one was broken.

Mohammad Khurshid Alam, the Deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan
Police, said they had launched a probe into the theft.

Hinduism is the second largest religion in the country, constituting nearly
10 per cent of the population.

There are over 12 lakh Hindus in Bangladesh.”

outside the collectorate in Barmer, and performed a ‘hawan’ on Thursday,
seeking divine help for the police to solve the cases.

“This year about a 100 temple theft cases have been recorded in Barmer, but
police could be able to solve only 30. Despite CCTV footage evidence, some
cases could not be cracked,” said Praveen Singh Aagore, Barmer district
chief of Karni Sena.

“As this matter (temple thefts) relates to people’s faith, authorities are
expected to take the incidents seriously and act accordingly. Despite a 100
temple theft cases, authorities in Barmer remain negligent.”

Aagore said they were forced to go on a hunger strike after authorities
ignored their plea. “For the past one month, we have been urging the police
and district administration to take the temple theft cases seriously and
solve them at the earliest.”

He said they would call a Barmer bandh on May 9 if theft cases were not be
solved. “Our demand is to solve these cases and ensure security to temples.”

He said thieves have stopped fearing the police, leading to rise in temple
thefts graph. “We have no other option but to invoke the god. We performed
hawan at the dharna spot and invoked the god to give wisdom to the police
so that they can crack the temple theft cases.”

On Hanuman Jayanti last month, Barmer Municipal Council (BMC) employees,
including the commissioner, worshipped lord Hanuman, seeking an end to
corrupt practices in the civic body.

SJS Alleges Idol Thefts From Jagannath Temple, Files Case

Puri: Precious idols of various deities in Lord Jagannath temple here have
allegedly been stolen during last 45 years on the pretext of renovation and
upkeep of the temple. This was alleged by the Shree Jagannath Sena (SJS),
which filed a complaint at the Singhadwara Police station today in this
regard.

As per the complaint filed by Convener of SJS Priyadarshi Patnaik, idols of
deities like the Swargadwara Jaya Vijaya, Saptasakhi and Dasavatara have
been stolen from the temple. He further alleged that a*ttempts have also
been made to steal the* Nata Ganesh idol at the Bhoga Mandap.

The Sena demanded that an investigation be carried out if the idols of
these deities have been stolen or kept somewhere else. It also stated that
if the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has kept those superfine metal
deities, it should display them at museums

தொல்லியல் எச்சங்களைக் காணுமாறு ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தனர். மோட்டூர் என்னும்
ஊரில் அமைந்திருக்கும் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பத்தையும், எடுத்தானூரில் இருக்கும்
நடுகற்சிற்பத்தையும் காண்பதாகத் திட்டம். கருத்தரங்கில் நடைபெறவேண்டிய
சொற்பொழிவு, ஆய்வுக்கட்டுரைகளைப் படிக்கும் அமர்வுகள் ஆகிய நிகழ்ச்சிகளின்
நேரம் குறைவு படக்கூடாதெனும் கருத்தில், சிறுகாலைப்பொழுதில் ஆறரை மணியளவில்
புறப்பட்டு ஒன்பது அல்லது ஒன்பதரை மணிக்குள் தொல்லியல் சின்னங்களைக் கண்டு

சிற்பத்தை மட்டுமே காண இயன்றது. அது பற்றிய ஒரு பதிவு இங்கே.

திருவண்ணாமலையிலிருந்து அரூர் செல்லும் சாலையில் பயணம் தொடங்கியது. வழியில்,
நல்லவன் பாளையம், தண்டராம்பட்டு, தானிப்பாடி, சே.ஆண்டாப்பட்டு, தா.வேலூர் ஆகிய
ஊர்களைக் கடந்த பின்னர் மோட்டூரை அடைந்தோம். இங்கே, ஒன்றைக் குறிப்பிட்டாக
வேண்டும். பேருந்து தண்டராம்பட்டைக் கடந்து சென்றபோது, ஊரின் பெயர்ப் பலகை
ஒன்றில் “தண்டராம் பேட்”   என ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதியிருந்ததைக் கண்டேன். பல
ஊர்களின் பெயர்கள் இப்பகுதியில் ”பட்டு” என்னும்
பின்னொட்டைக்கொண்டிருக்கும். ஆங்கிலத்தில் குறிக்கும்போது, பட்டு என்னும் சொல்
ஆங்கிலேயர் காலத்தில் “PUT“ எனக் குறிக்கப்படும். அதைப் “பட்டு” என்பதாகப்
படிக்க இயலும். எடுத்துக்காட்டாக, சென்னையில் எழுபதுகளில் சேத்துப்பட்டு
என்னும் பெயர் “CHETPUT“ என்று பெயர்ப் பலகைகளில் எல்லாம்
எழுதப்பட்டிருப்பதைப் பார்த்திருக்கிறேன். ஆனால்,  காலப்போக்கில், “CHETPET“
என யாரோ ஒருவர் பிழையாக எழுத, மாநகர ஆட்சியாளர்களும் பிழையாகவே எழுதத்தொடங்கி
விட்டனர். இது ”சேத்துப்பேட்டை” என ஒலிக்கும் வகையில் ஒரு தவறான மரபுக்கு
வழியமைத்துவிட்டது. பட்டு என்பதற்கும் பேட்டை என்பதற்கும் வேறுபாடு உண்டே.
மொழி மீது இருக்க வேண்டிய அக்கறை ஒதுங்கிச் செல்லும் போக்கினையே இங்கு
காண்கிறோம்.

மோட்டூர் கிராமத்திலிருந்து, எதிரே காணப்பட்ட சிறு குன்றுகளை நோக்கி, மண்
சாலையில் நடந்து சென்றோம். சாலையோரமாக ஓரிடத்தில், சிறு சிறு தூண்களைப்போல்
கள்ளிச் செடிகள் காணப்பட்டன. கள்ளிச் செடிகள் வியப்புக்குரியவை அல்ல. கள்ளிச்
செடிகள் பூத்திருந்தமைதான் வியப்பும் உவப்பும் தந்த காட்சி. கள்ளிப்பூக்களைக்
கண்டுகளித்தவாறே நடந்தோம். கல்வெட்டுகள் காட்டும் ஒரு காட்சியும் என்
நினைவுக்கு வந்தது. அரசன், தன் நேரடி ஆணை மூலம் நிலக்கொடையை அறிவித்து ஓலை
எழுதுவிக்கிறான். இந்த ஓலை ”திருமுகம்” என்றழைக்கப்படும். அரசனின் திருமுக
ஓலை கொடை நிலம் அமைந்துள்ள ஊர் மற்றும் நாட்டுச் சபையினர்க்குக் கிடைத்த உடனே,
நாட்டார், திருமுக ஓலையைப் பிடியின் (பெண் யானை) மேல் வைத்து ஊர்வலம் வந்து,
நிலத்தின் நான்கு பக்க எல்லைகளில் கல்லும் கள்ளியும் நாட்டிச் செல்வார்கள்.
எல்லைகளில் கள்ளிச் செடிகளை நடுதல் மரபாக இருந்துள்ளது.

ஒரு பரந்த நிலப்பரப்பில், சுற்றிலும் பெருங்கற்கால ஈமச்சின்னங்களான
கல்வட்டங்களும், கற்குவைகளும் நிறைந்திருக்கும் இடத்தில், பெரியதொரு உருவமாய்
நம்மை மலைக்கவைத்தது இந்தத் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பம். அதன் அருகில் நின்று
பார்க்கையில், அதன் விரிந்த தோற்றமும், கல்லின் பருமனும் அதை எப்படி உருவாக்கி
நிலை நிறுத்தினார்கள் என்னும் கேள்வியும் பெரிதாய் எழுந்தது. தொல்லியலைப்
படிக்கையில், தொல்லியல் சின்னங்களில் இந்தத் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பம் தவறாது
இடம்பெறும். எனவே, இதுவரை இச்சிற்பத்தை நேரில் பார்த்திராதவர்க்கு நேரில்
பார்க்கும் சூழல் மறக்கவொண்ணா நினைவாகும். ஆர்வலர்கள் அனைவரும் சிற்பத்தைச்
சுற்றித் தரையில் அமர்ந்துகொள்ள, தொல்லியல் அறிஞர் சு.இராசவேலு அவர்கள் இச்
சிற்பத்தைப் பற்றிய செய்திகளையும் கருதுகோள்களையும் சுருக்கமாக எடுத்துச்
சொன்னார். அவர் பேச்சிலிருந்து:

திருவண்ணாமலை, செங்கம் பகுதிகள் நடுகற்களுக்குச் சிறப்பிடம் கொண்டவை.
நடுகற்கள் என்பவை நினைவுக் கற்களே. இந்தத் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பம் நெடுங்கல் (
MENHIR) வகையைச் சேர்ந்த ஓர் அமைப்பாகும். 1960-இன் பதின்ம ஆண்டுகளில் இங்கே
எஸ்.ஆர். ராவ் அவர்கள் அகழாய்வு நடத்தியபோது, அவருடைய உதவியாளராயிருந்த
நரசிம்மய்யா அவர்கள் இந்தத் தொல்லியல் சின்னத்தைக் கண்டறிந்தார்.  இவ்வகை
அமைப்பு முதலில் கண்டறியப்பட்டது இங்கேதான். இதற்கு அடுத்து இதேபோல் ஒரு
சின்னம் உடையாநத்தம் பகுதியில் கண்டறியப்பட்டது. இதை இப்பகுதியில் விசிறிக்கல்
என்று அழைக்கின்றனர். சிலர், பறவைக்கல் என்றும் அழைப்பதுண்டு. இதை, முந்து
கொற்றவை வழிபாட்டுருவம் என்று குறிப்பிடலாம். இதன் தொடர்ச்சியாகத்தான்
இப்பகுதியில் மக்கள் வழிபடும் கங்கையம்மன் வழிபாட்டைக் கொள்ளவேண்டும்.
கங்கையம்மன் உருவத்தை மண்ணால் செய்து வழிபடுகின்ற இவ்வழிபாட்டில், கங்கையம்மன்
உருவங்களிலும் இதே உருவ ஒற்றுமை இருப்பதைக் காணலாம். தலைப் பகுதி இல்லாத
பெண்ணுருவம். சித்தூர், பழமநேர் பகுதிகள் தற்போது ஆந்திரத்தில்
சேர்ந்திருந்தாலும், ஒருங்கிணைந்த தமிழ் மாநிலத்தில் வட ஆர்க்காடு பகுதியிலேயே
அமைந்திருந்தன. எனவே, மோட்டூர் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பத்தின் வடிவிலேயே அங்கும்
கற்சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன. ஆனால், அவ்வுருவங்களில் பெண்ணின் மார்பகங்கள்
காட்டப்பெற்றுள்ளன. சித்தூர், பழமநேர் பகுதிகளில் பத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட
இவ்வகைச் சிற்பங்கள் உள்ளன. சில கற்கள் சிலுவைக் குறி போன்ற கூட்டல் குறியை
ஒத்துள்ளன. இவை பெண் தெய்வங்களாகவே வழிபாட்டில் உள்ளன.

திருவண்ணாமலைப் பகுதியில், தென்பெண்ணை ஆற்றுப்படுகையில் வட்டெழுத்துகளோடு
கூடிய நடுகற்கள் மிகுதியாக உள்ளன. 5-6-ஆம் நூற்றாண்டளவிலான  காலத்தைச்
சேர்ந்த வட்டெழுத்துகள் மிகுதி. திருவண்ணாமலைப்பகுதி, கல்வெட்டுகளில்
ஆந்தைப்பாடி நாடு எனக் குறிப்பிடப்படுகிறது. இருளப்பட்டி கல்வெட்டொன்றில்,
“எழுமாத்தூரில் இருந்து வாழும் சாகடைச் சிற்றன்” என்னும் குறிப்பு வருகிறது.
எழுமாத்தூர், கொங்குப்பகுதியில் உள்ளது என்பது இங்கே கருதத்தக்கது.
திருவண்ணாமலைப் பகுதியில் ”பொன்” என்னும் பெயர் கல்வெட்டுகளில் மிகுதியான
வழக்கில் இருந்துள்ளது.  இப்பகுதிக் கல்வெட்டுகளில் சமற்கிருதம் இருக்காது. ”
ஸ்ரீ” என்பதைத் ”திரு” என்றே குறித்திருப்பர். வாணர்கள், நுளம்பர்கள் ஆகிய
சிற்றரசர்கள் அல்லது சிறு குழுத்தலைவர்கள் இப்பகுதியில் இருந்துள்ளனர்.
இவர்களிடையே ஆநிரைப் பூசல்கள் மிகுதியும் நிகழ்ந்தன. பல்லவ அரசின்
எல்லைப்பகுதியாக இப்பகுதி விளங்கியது. ஆநிரைப் பூசல்களில் இறந்த வீரர்களுக்கு
எடுக்கப்படும் நடுகற்கள் இங்கு மிகுதி. இந்நடுகற்கள் அமைந்துள்ள இடங்கள்
சன்னியாசிப்பாட்டன் கோயில், முனீசுவரன் கோயில், வேடியப்பன் கோயில் ஆகிய
பெயர்களில் வழிபாட்டிடங்களாக உள்ளன.

*தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பத்தின் காலம்*

இதன் காலம் கி.மு. 1000 வரை இருக்கலாம். இச்சின்னம், INDIAN ARCHAEOLOGY நூலில்
பதிவாகியுள்ளது.  இச்சின்னத்தை ஸ்ரீவத்சம் அல்லது திருமரு என்று கருதுவோரும்
உளர். காரவேலனின் அத்திகும்பா கல்வெட்டில் ஸ்ரீவத்சம் பொறிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

சு. இராசவேலு அவர்கள் பேசுகையில், இந்தத் தாய்த்தெய்வச் சிற்பத்தை ஸ்ரீவத்சம்
அல்லது திருமரு என்னும் கருத்தோடு ஒப்பிடுகின்ற ஒரு பார்வையும் உண்டு என்றார்
என்று குறிப்பிட்டோம். அது பற்றிச் சிறிது தெரிந்துகொள்ள முனைந்தபோது
பார்வையில் பட்ட செய்திகள் வருமாறு:

ஸ்ரீ என்பது திருமகளைக் குறிக்கும். ”வத்ச” என்பது அன்பைக்காட்டும்.
திருமகளை அன்பால் தன் மார்பில் வைத்திருக்கும் திருமாலையே “ஸ்ரீவத்ச”  என்னும்
சொல் குறிக்கும். திருமாலின் ஆயிரம் பெயர்களுள் இதுவும் ஒன்று. திபெத்து
நாட்டில் காக்கும் கடவுளின் ஒரு கூறாக இதைக் கருதுகிறார்கள். இதைக்
குறியீடாகக் காட்டும்போது, ஒரு முக்கோண வடிவச் சுழல் போலக் காட்டுகிறார்கள்.
முடிவற்ற ஒரு முடிச்சு என்றும் இதைக் குறிப்பிடுகிறார்கள். திபெத்திய
பௌத்தத்திலும் இக்குறியீடு உண்டு. திருமாலின் செப்புத்திருமேனிகளில், அதன்
மார்புப்பகுதியில் இக்குறியீட்டைக் கவிழ்த்த நிலையில் காட்டியிருப்பார்கள்.
ஜைனத்தில், தீர்த்தங்கரர்களின் நெஞ்சிலிருந்து வெளிப்படும் பேரறிவின்
குறியீடாக இதைக்கொள்வர். எனவே, தீர்த்தங்கரர்களின் திருமேனிகளில் மார்பின்
நடுப்பகுதியில் இக்குறியீட்டைக் காட்டுவர். ஜைனத்தில் இது, எண்மங்கலங்களில்
ஒன்றாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது.

ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன் மக்கள் வாழ்ந்து ஈமச் சின்னங்களை உருவாக்கிய இடத்தில்

Three stolen idols recovered from Vellore gang

Arrested while trying to sell them, hunt on for six others

The Idol Wing Police, headed by *Inspector General of Police Pon
Manickavel, seized three*

*panchaloha idols from a three-member gang in Pernampattu of Vellore
district on Sunday night.*
The idols of Valli, Murugan and Deivanai were stolen from* Poomaalai
Murugan *temple at *Ambur* last year. The police team arrested the three —
*Easwaran, Arumugam and Gurusamy — when they came to sell the idols at
Bunglamedu.*
*Mr. Mancikavel said based on a tip-off that a gang was attempting to sell
the idols in Vellore, a special team visited Pernampattu and negotiated
with the gang leader, who has been identified as Easwara*n.

After the negotiation, the gang informed the police team which had *gone in
mufti to Bunglamedu* to carry out the transaction. When two persons came in
a car and another person on a two-wheeler, allegedly stolen, to Bunglamedu,
the police team arrested them. The Idol Wing police *recovered the three
idols from the vehicle.*

A case regarding the theft of three idols was filed in the Vellore district
on October 8, 2017.

Mr. Manickavel said the Idol Wing is on the* lookout for six others
involved in the theft.*

While the six accused were arrested on Sunday night, they were presented
before the court on Monday. They have been remanded to police custody till
September 12, police said.

Six people were arrested late Sunday for allegedly stealing Rs 60 lakh in
cash and jewellery from a Krishna temple near the Thane police
commissioner’s office within eight hours of committing the crime. Police
said the accused were traced within eight hours with the help of CCTV
camera footage from the shops located around the temple.

The accused have been identified as Santosh Kamble (26), his wife Rekha
Kamble (21), Arun Sonkar (19), Shehzad Khan (25), Zulfikar Mansuri (22) and
Azad Shaha (19). “Since the accused had disabled the CCTV cameras inside
the temple, we started piecing together footage from shops and private CCTV
cameras installed nearby. We also made a list of potential suspects,
including people who have been accused of similar crimes in the past and
have been released recently on bail or parole,” said a police officer.

The CCTV footage helped the police identify Santosh Kamble, the main
accused. “Kamble was recently released from jail. We went to his house but
didn’t find him. So, we detained his close friend who helped us in tracking
him down… The friend confirmed that the man seen in the footage was Kamble.
We then tracked his phone and activated our sources to look for him,” the
officer said.

“Kamble was arrested from Shil Road…. He was travelling in a brand new
vehicle, which he had bought on Sunday itself with some of the money he
stole from the temple. The car had some stolen jewelry and money, while the
rest he had stashed in the houses of his associates and himself,” the
officer added.

While the six accused were arrested on Sunday night, they were presented
before the court on Monday. They have been remanded to police custody till
September 12, police said. “We have recovered some money and jewelry… we
have also seized the car. We are investigating if the accused are wanted
for some other robberies or criminal activities,” said the officer.

அதான்று குறித்த  சிவன் கோயிலையும்  அதனின் படங்களையும் சேகரித்தேன் அது ஒரு
பல  நூற்றாண்டு பழமை வாய்ந்தது ஆகலாம் ஏனெனில் அங்குள்ள கோயி வழிபாட்டில்
காணும் *பிள்ளையார் சிற்பத்திற்கு இரண்டுகைகளே உள்ளன (***)* அங்கு நீங்கள்
காட்டியபடி கல்வெட்டுகளும் இருக்கலாம் மேலும் இந்த இடம் *சம்பை* எனும்
மிகப்பழைய பிராமிக்கல்வெட்டு கண்டுபிடித்தஇடத்திற்கு மிக அருகிலேயே அமைவதால்
ஓர் பூதூர்(பழமையானது) ஆகலா ம் பூதூர் எனும் சொல் மிகப்பழமை பொருந்திய
ஊரினைக் குறிக்கும் . அந்த சிவன் கோயிலில் ஏழு கன்னியர் கற்சிலைகளுடன் சாத்தன்

சோழர்கால செக்கு கல்வெட்டு:வரலாற்று ஆய்வு நடுவம் கண்டெடுப்பு.

வேட்டவலம் அடுத்த செல்லங்குப்பம் கிராமத்தில் சோழர்கால செக்கு கல்வெட்டு
கண்டெடுக்கப்பட்டது. இது 11ம் நூற்றாண்டை சேர்ந்ததாக இருக்கலாம் என வரலாற்று
ஆய்வாளர்கள் தெரிவித்தனர். திருவண்ணாமலை மாவட்டம், வேட்டவலம் அடுத்த
செல்லங்குப்பம் கிராமம் பெரிய ஏரிக்கரையில் செக்கு கல்வெட்டு இருப்பதாக, அதே
கிராமத்தை சேர்ந்த முனைவர் சுப்பிரமணி என்பவர், மாவட்ட வரலாற்று ஆய்வு
நடுவத்திற்கு தகவல் தெரிவித்தார். அதன்பேரில், வரலாற்று ஆய்வு நடுவ தலைவர்
பிரகாஷ், செயலாளர் பாலமுருகன், இணைச்செயலாளர் பிரேம்குமார் மற்றும் குழுவினர்
செல்லங்குப்பம் கிராமத்திற்கு சென்றனர். பெரிய ஏரிக்கரையில் மண்ணில்
புதைந்திருந்த கல் செக்கை தோண்டி எடுத்து ஆய்வு செய்தனர்.

ஆய்வில் அந்த கல் செக்கை சுற்றி கல்வெட்டு பொறிக்கப்பட்டு இருந்தது. சோழர்
காலம் 11ம் நூற்றாண்டை சேர்ந்தது என்பது தெரியவந்தது. கூரியூரை சேர்ந்த
பெருவன் என்ற சினபகையின் மகன் சேந்தன் என்பவர் இந்த செக்கை செய்து
கொடுத்துள்ளதாக குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த செக்கில் எடுக்கப்படும்
எண்ணெய்யில் ஒரு ஆழாக்கு தினமும் மகாதேவர் என்ற இறைவனுக்கு வழங்க முறை
செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும், இறைவனுக்கு நாள்தோறும் வழங்கப்படும் எண்ணெய்,
தர்மத்தை காப்பவர்களின் கால்தூசி, என் முடிமேல் என்றும் குறிப்பிடப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இதுகுறித்து வரலாற்று ஆய்வு நடுவம் குழுவினர் கூறுகையில், `இந்த செக்கு
கல்வெட்டு இவ்வூரில் கிடைத்தது அரிய கல்வெட்டு. இந்த கல்வெட்டில்
குறிக்கப்படும் மகாதேவர் என்பது சிவனைக் குறிக்கிறது. மேலும்,
செல்லங்குப்பத்தில் அழிந்துபோன சிவன் கோயில் ஒன்று உள்ளது. அதை தொடர்ந்து
ஆய்வு மேற்கொண்டால் மேலும் கல்வெட்டுகள் கிடைக்க வாய்ப்புள்ளது’’ என்றனர்.

   K. Srinivas* at a press conference on Monday said the accused stole the
   * panchaloha **and brass idols*. The duo were remanded to 14 days
   custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court II in *Kanhangad.*
   The idols, which are valued over* Rs.16 lakh,* were found kept in a sack
   in the house of *Ahammed Kabir at Chattanchal.*

 The Ganesh temple in Sada, Vasco, is situated opposite the Mormugao police
station, but registered two cases of theft in one month.

The temple’s pujari who entered the premises early Tuesday morning noticed
that the lock of the temple’s gate was broken. The Mormugao police said,
“Three donation boxes were found broken and 1,500 was stolen.”
The incident occurred between 9.30pm of Monday and 6.30am of Tuesday. The
police said, “There are two gates, one of which was unlocked and the other
locked one, was forcibly opened.”
Another theft at the same temple was reported on December 3 where 20,000
was stolen. The Mormugao police have registered a case of theft.

In Himachal Pradesh, priests of many rural temples have procured gun
licenses for the protection of deities and precious jewellery as in the
past, many temples have been looted and in some cases, priests or the
temple guards were killed.

In July 2013, armed burglars had not only stolen the precious idols and
jewels worth several crores from Bachhunchh village of Rohru tehsil in
Shimla district, but they had also killed the temple chowkidar. In last 10
years, burglars have struck in over 150 temples and monasteries of the
state.

In December 2014, Raghunatha temple heist had left the entire state shocked
as priceless idols of Lord Raghunatha were stolen from the temple premises.

Kullu district is home to over 200 deities and dozens of thefts in temples
here have been reported in the recent years
- ow, the government is encouraging temple authorities to install CCTV
cameras and apply for arms license for security of the temple property.

Dabe Ram, kardar (caretaker) of Raghunath temple in Sainj, said "The
ancient idols of the deities are very precious. Kathar (stockroom) of the
temples stocks jewellery and cash, and we possess a gun only to protect the
heritage," he said.

Dot Ram, kardar of Devi Darshani Warda temple in Kais, said possession of
gun is necessary to keep the miscreants away from temple property. "We
cannot afford theft of our ancient idols. The palanquins of our deities
decorated with jewellery keep moving across the district round the year.
Keeping a gun is a must for every temple authority," he said.

Kullu Devi Devta Kardar Sangh, president, Dot Ram Thakur said kardars of
the district had a meeting some time back and they discussed about stepping
up security in the temples.

"We talked about obtaining gun license, besides installing CCTV cameras in
temple premises. Government is helping us in getting gun license with easy
formalities. The most important thing is to have a valid certificate in
training in operation, safety and handling of the gun," he said.

"Many already have valid arms licenses while a few have applied. Nika Ram,
kardar of Jamlu Devta temple in Anni, has fulfilled all the formalities and
he will get his license soon," Thakur added.*

At present, 13 temple authorities have gun licenses in Kullu while a few
more have applied. In Himachal Pradesh around 95,000 gun licenses have been
issued to people in all 12 districts. and majority of these licenses have
been issued for crop protection.

Temples managed by state government have total cash of Rs 2,84,26,27,495
besides over 1.30 quintals of gold and over 27.72 quintals of silver. These
temples does not include temples of rural areas which is managed by the
residents of respective villages and have huge wealth and precious idols.

தஞ்சை கோவிலில் உள்ள ராஜராஜ சோழன் சிலை உள்பட 11 சிலைகள், குஜராத்
அருங்காட்சியகத்தில் உள்ளதாக வந்த புகாரை அடுத்து, உடனடியாக IG பொன்.
மாணிக்கவேல் தலைமையிலான குழு, அந்த சிலைகளை மீட்டு, தஞ்சை பெரிய கோவிலில்
வைத்தது. இந்நிலையில், சென்னையில் 2 நாட்களுக்கு முன்னர், தொழிலதிபர்
வீட்டிலிருந்து 89 சிலைகள் மீட்கப்பட்ட சம்பவத்தையடுத்து, தஞ்சை  கோயிலில்,
அதிகாரிகள் இந்த திடீர் ஆய்வில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.
ஐ.ஜி. பொன்மாணிக்கவேல் தலைமையில் 10 பேர் கொண்ட குழுவினர், சுமார் 3 மணி
நேரமாக ஆய்வு நடத்தினர். இதையடுத்து, சிலை கடத்தல் தடுப்பு பிரிவு, ஏடிஎஸ்பி
ராஜாராமன் அளித்த பேட்டியில், கோயிலில் புராதன சிலைகள் எத்தனை உள்ளது அல்லது
மாற்றி வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதா ? என்பது தொடர்பாக கணக்கெடுப்பு நடைபெற்றதாக
தெரிவித்தார். மேலும், இந்த ஆய்வில் ஒரு சில விவரங்கள் கண்டுபிடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் அவர் கூறினார்.
பார்வையாளர்களை வெளியேயே  நிறுத்தி  வைத்து கோயிலுக்குள் ஆய்வு செய்துள்ளாராம்
