Balussery - Kirathamoorthy temple. Swami Name: Kirathamoorthy; Ambaal Name: Meenkulathi Amman; Thiirththam (pond or river) : Pudhukkulam; Sthala vruksham (tree of the temple) : Ilanji. The temple is over a hundred years old and the exact date is not clear. The temple is called the Kirathamoorthy Temple. The roopam is a roudra avataaram – kiraatha moorthy who incarnated to eliminate the arrogance of Arjuna in and to grant him the Strength and blessings to become a great warrior and king and win the Mahabharatha Yudha against Adharma. The temple has a Kiradha murthy shila and was originally established by the Kiratha Murthy temple swamy of Balussery in North Kerala. The Meenkulathi temple is apparently the avatar of Madura Meenakshi.
