"I am a servitor of Muppothum Tirumeni Theenduvaar."
- The Tiru-th-Tonda-th-Tokai
1. Their devotion for the Lord who is dear to souls, is
Ever on the increase by reason of His sweet grace; they swerve
Not from the rules established by the true
And illumined way; they perform pooja to the Lord
With ever-crescent ardour during the threefold divisions
Of the day; these are indeed the Aadi Saiva Saints. (4160)
2. Conscious (and careful) examination (of the scriptures)
Reveals that these Siva-Brahmins alone are entitled
To perform the traditional, service-based and loving poojas
To the Lord, during the threefold divisions of they day,
In time past, time present and time future; is it in our power
To hymn the hereditary glory of these lofty ones? (4161)
3. Adoring the lotus-feet of these Brahmins who perform
In loving devotion, during the threefold divisions
Of the day, pooja to Siva-- unknowable to Naaraayana
And the four-faced Brahma, our Lord who is the import
Of all the truths of the Vedas and who is
The Merciful One--, I proceed to narrate in melting love
That fills the heart, the servitorship of the holy ones
Who are Muzhu Neeru Poosiya Munivar, as is known to me. (4162)

NOTES
Verse No.
These are Aadi-Saiva saints. They are Sivaachaaryas. These swear by the
Siva Aagamas. The conduct (of (temple) pooja, ritual and festival is entrusted
to their custody. It is these who consecrate a temple. Their glory is ineffable.
