Notes
1. appar was fed with poison by the religious
intolerants. He was unaffected by the Grace of the
viShakaNTha. Irked by this, they indulged the king
to order for the angry elephant tramp the saint.
When the Supreme God is there to save, why would appar
be afraid of the death sentence given by emperor of
pallava kingdom ?! Unruffled He sang out his unshakable
trust this padhikam on the God Who kicked the death to
death ! The gruesome elephant became very calm as it
reached the saint, refused to hurt him and saluted him !
2. chuNNam - powder; urivai - pealed (skin); aNNal -
ancient; punal - water (river); thamar - relative.
