If God is Supreme, why does It / He require us to worship ?

Translation of song:

Looking at the flood of grace of the Supreme, the beautiful-fish-like-eyed
Lady, fearing that the heavy flood that would submerge (even) the sky
would go on Her Lord, with love and anxiety overwhelming inside,
tried to stop it with Her holy hand(s). As it did not stop even then,
hugged the cool-crescent-flower-crown Lord, the Lady, Who is comparable
only to Herself !

Notes:
1. This song describes the worship at Kanchi that Goddess did, Who
showed the model of excellence in worshipping God.
2. She is part of the very Supreme worshipped. There is nothing She
is not aware of. There is no force anywhere that could do any harm
to the Supreme Being. Still with all the anxiety expressed She ran to
hug the God to protect Him (!) That is the supremacy of devotion.
For that intense devotion God became tender.
3. This is the devotion that Agamic worship brings to practice.
For the Supreme, Who does not have any benefit out of the offering
and other worship we do, we offer the greatest and precious things
we have in love, making that nirguNa brahmam that has no liking or
hatred, to be pleased with our worship.
