Meaning:
Not having somebody who could say, "What dear, Don't be
afraid !", I was hopelessly wandering. Oh the Lord like the
lightning, You are abandoning me ! If a real comparison is
to be said for You, You only are Your simile ! Oh the King of
the glorious uththtara kOcamaN^gai, You are like the mother,
You are like the father for me, oh my Precious One !
Notes:
1. To seek refuge, the qualified is the God both in terms
of meritoriousness as well as omnipotence to protect.
So the soul pleads to God "Don't leave me off, because
other than You there is no reliable hold !"
2. Typically (positive) simile is used to glorify an object
by referring to the similarity with a much greater object.
However in case of God all the similes are used to
understand at least at a much scaled down level of glory
by comparing to the highest possible glorious things
we are aware of. So if a real comparison to be made for
God, it could be with none other than the God Itself !
c.f. uvamanil iRan^thana - thiruvAcakam
Or uvamanilli - appar
3. eyththal - become weary; aththan - father.
