திருச்சிற்றம்பலம் 
 
தீயினும் வெய்யன் புனலினும் தண்ணியன் 
ஆயினும் ஈசன் அருளறி வாரில்லை 
சேயினும் நல்லன் அணியன்நல் அன்பர்க்குத் 
தாயினும் நல்லன் தாழ்சடை யோனே.         8

Meaning of Thirumandhiram

 
Fierce than fire; Cooler than water; 
Still nobody knows God's grace ! 
He is not somebody far-away, He 
is One very close. For the ones 
full of pure love, the long - low falling 
Matted Haired Lord is better than  
even mother !

1. It is the source of power; It is immeasurable; 
It is unexplorable; Its grandness and power 
may make feel frightened. But It is the Lord 
Who is absolutely benevolent, showering the  
boons, the One Who is called shiva - the  
auspicious, Asutosha - easily pleased ! 
Actually for those who love It, It is the most 
intimate and loving relation than own mother  
herself !
