Meaning:
Is there people of any clan who do not know our Lord ?
The One with crescent on the matted hair, Mysterious Who
has bull (flag), One with the skin of the elephant,
One dancing in the cemetery, One with bull
(vehicle), the Lord with stain throat - while living in the
desire of taking His Feet and keeping on my head,
can the stupid dog like I, even for a fraction of moment
despise my Lord - the One taken abode
at vIraTTAnam north of swaying keDilam river !
Notes:
1. cundharar did not want to put his feet in the land of
thiruvadhikai, glorified by the uzavAram of great sage
appar. So he stayed outside in the siththavaDa maDam.
Isn't such devotion the one that summons God !
God shiva came as an old man and lied down in the
night near vanRoNDar. He kept His feet on the sleeping
cundharar's head. Disturbed cundharar moved to another
place and slept. God came again closer to that place and
kept His feet, for even seeing which sages do immense
austerity, on cundharar's head. This continued. Irritated
cundharar asked the Old-man, why He was disturbing Him.
The Old-man, who disturbed cundharar's scheduled wedding
ceremony also, disappeared in a moment, making cundharar
realize that the One he was scolding was none other than
his beloved Almighty ! Emotionally charged cundharar sung
this pathikam.
2. vikirthan - one with special/strange deeds; kaimmA -
animal-with-hand (elephant); karikADu - cemetery; iRaipOthu
- very small fraction of time.
