Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:

 Verily golden, most Excellent, Brilliant, Greatest of the greats
- on Him, I am voicing the good praises!
Salutations be to the Remover of filth!
By the names of Lord Rudra with salutations
the Brilliant Lord is invoked!

 Notes:

1. babhru - golden; vRuShabha - most excellent; shvit - bright/white;
mahOmahIm - greater than greats; IrayAmi - voice out/ say;
kalmalIkin - dispeller of filth; gRuNImasi - invoke You; tveShaM - brilliant.
2. babhru shvitiche
Golden and brilliant white.
The Lord is invoked with these attributes in many places
across vedas. This is the brilliant flame like form of Lord Shiva!
c.f. பொன் செய்த மேனியினீர் - சுந்தரர்
பொன் வண்ணம் எவ்வண்ணம் அவ்வண்ணம் மேனி - கழறிற்றறிவார்
3. mahOmahIm
Greatest of the greats. Lord Shiva is the Supreme without
any equivalent or superior.
c.f. மேலோர்க்கும் மேலோர்க்கும் மேலோய் போற்றி - அப்பர்
4. kalmalIkinam
Remover of filth. mala hara - This is the key purpose of life.
Lord Shiva is the One Who helps us to get rid of the filth
inherent in us, thereby maturing us to enjoy the Eternal Bliss
He provides. For this reason God is called hara.
While the material benefits could be sought with
many others too, the removal of the filth and the subsequent
immersion into eternal bliss is only possible with Lord Shiva, the God.
