When Will Shiva Pick Us Up?
Prayer of the Day
Prayer from Akka Mahadevi Vachana
ಲಿಂಗವೆಂಬ ಎಲೆಯಾಯಿತ್ತು;
ಆಚಾರವೆಂಬ ಕಾಯಯಿತ್ತು, ನಿಷ್ಪತ್ತಿ ಎಂಬ ಹಣ್ಣಾಯಿತ್ತು;

Meaning of the Prayer Song:
On the field of Bhakti, the seed called Guru sprouted
to become the leaf called Linga.
Over the leaf called Linga, the flower called Vichara bloomed;
the raw fruit called Achara; the ripe fruit called Nishpatti.
When the fruit of Nishpatti separated from the tree
the Divine of Kudalasangama picked it up for Himself!
Notes:
1. Vichara - enquiry; Achara - conduct; Nishpatti - evolution.
2. Basavanna in his own way describes the evolution of the devotee.
The supporting ground for the spiritual journey is the devotion.
For the sincerely devoted, when the association of Guru occurs,
that seed sprouts as the worship of Lord Shiva.
On the basis of the worship of Lord Shiva,
spiritual enquiry blooms which leads to
conduct / discipline/ fairness. That leads to the evolution of
the being. When the individual completes the evolution,
like a ripe fruit, gets automatically separated from the tree
of worldly affairs. Such liberated beings are picked up
by Supreme Lord Shiva to keep them with Him - ever in Bliss!
