What Does the Fish in the Milk Ocean Eat?

What Does the Fish in the Milk Ocean Eat?

Prayer of the Day

Prayer from Thiruvarutpayan (திருவருட்பயன்)

அருளது நிலை

பால் ஆழி மீன் ஆளும் பான்மைத்து அருள் உயிர்கள்
மால் ஆழி ஆளும் மறித்து   34

Song as Romanized text

aruLathu n-ilai

pAl Azi mIn ALum pAnmaiththu aruL uyirkaL
mAl Azi ALum maRiththu.    34

Meaning of the Prayer Song:

The lives under the influence of delusion
do not realize the utility of the ocean of Grace,
the same way as the fish does not realize the
utility of the ocean of milk.

 Notes:

1. While milk itself is a food, a fish in the ocean of milk
(Kshirabdi), does not realize that fact and looks for dirt to eat.
The same way, while the lives are surrounded all around
with Grace, they just do not realize, as they are under the
influence of delusion.

So, when the Grace is realized by the soul
and get liberated from the veil of darkness,
the Bliss is right here, as they are anyway surrounded by
Divine Grace! (amRuta iha bhavati - Rigveda).
