Prayer of the Day
Padal as Romanized text
vEdhAn-tham sidhdhAn-tham vERu ennAr kaN kaLikkum
n-AdhAn-tha mOna n-alamE parAparamE
- Thayumanavar
Meaning of the Prayer Song:
Oh Supreme! Oh the Tranquil Virtue at the crest of sound principle,
that is seen and rejoiced by those who do not say that the
Vedanta and Siddhanta are different!
Notes:
1. Thayumanavar fully imbibing the traditional wisdom that has
come via Thirumular, who has categorically stated that the
Vedanta and Siddhanta are one and the same,
has reemphasized that in multiple times in his compositions.
This is one among them.
2. Vedanta is the conclusion of Vedas (knowlege).
Siddhanta is the conclusion of experience or Agamas.
They both point to the same thing - the Bliss that the Lord Shiva gives.
(The complete chapter Arantham in Thirumanthiram explains how they all lead to the same.)
