Meaning of the Prayer Song:

The noblest salutation is done to Your name!
You, the Pashupati, are the greatest of the divines that accept oblation!
Oh Bhagavan! You are told to be the greatest in general
when we study the Kruchra (expiation) mantras of Samavedins.

 Notes:

1. kratubhuja - those who accept offering/rite; krucchra - expiation

2. For example if we study the Jaiminiya Grhyasutra which belong
to Samaveda, Lord Shiva is told as the presiding Sun
(ईश्वरं भास्करं विद्यात उमां सोमं तथैव च|)

Namo jyeshThaya shrEshThaya - is in the Krucchra Granthas of Samagas.

In the Ardra Nakshatra prakarana in NakshatryeShTi, it is told,
ArdrayA rudraH prathamAna Eti shrEshTho devAnaM patiraghryAnam.
