Meaning of the Prayer Song:
Now, indeed, Oh the Inner Essence, I offer my soul
along with its auxiliaries, oh the Lord of Parvati!
(However) I do not know, oh Shiva, Your Feet, nor
the worship procedures, nor can I perform the path of yoga.
Without any other options, I take refuge in You!
Notes:
1. adya - now; iva - indeed; nalina - lotus; parikara - supporting things;
adri - mountain; boddhum - do not know; prapadyE - fall upon/ take refuge.
2. antarAtman
Notably Appayya Dikshithar addresses the Lord as
Antaratman and surrendering the Atman to that Lord
Who is resident in the Atman.
The Lord Shiva as one of the Ashtamurthams resides in the
soul and kindles it.
It could be seen that in many places in Atmarpanastuti
Appayya Dikshithar has used "antaratman" for referring to Lord.
3. Even to surrender to the Lord, the grace of the God is
a must. Without that the surrender cannot be complete.
c.f.அவன் அருளாலே அவன் தாள் வணங்கி - சிவபுராணம்.
