Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:
May the Sarasvati, who feeds the food, purify us!
Bringing us, who are desrious of Yagna, the wealth!
Notes:
1. pAvaka - make pure; vAjEbhiH - food; vaShTu - desirous; vasuH - wealth
2. This Rig mantra is also sung as the Sama gana by name Bharadvajam.
3. vAjEbhirvAjinIvatI
Feeds the food.
The river Sarasvati makes the paddy and other plants grow,
which in turn give the food!
4. yaj~jaM vaShTu dhiyAvasuH
For us, who desire to do the spiritual deeds,
provide the wealth.
The wealth should be with the people who do virtuous deeds.
That would make the world prosperous.
5. Here the purifier aspect of Lord Shiva in the form of
Sarasvati is hailed!
