Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:
May the divine water be auspicious and pleasant for us to drink;
May it give prosperity and courage flowing near us.
Notes:
1. abhiShTaya - pleasant; abhisravantu - to flow near.
2. This hymn occurs in Rig, Sama and Atharva vedas. This is in deed
the first hymn in the Atharva Veda.
3. Water is one of the Ashta Murtis of Lord Shiva.
4. Nice prayer to seek rain, relief from drought.
