Meaning of the Prayer Song:

 In this ruined path of life, in this world, frightened unable to see the
shore of the ocean of birth, taking You only as the companion,
those gifted who resort to which southern face of the Best of all divines
with that (face) take care of me forever, who is suffering for long in the samsara.

 Notes:

1. hatajanipathe - ruined life-path; pAntha - companion; prachaya - accumulation;
bibhyataH - frightened; pAra - shore; suravara - best of divines;
samshrayanti - resort to; kliShTam - molested.

2, mukhaM dakShiNaM
This is the aghora face - south facing. The Lord
is the Dakshinamurthi in this face. This face removes the
sins and pains of the seeker by imparting the supreme wisdom.
Hence, dikshithar is seeking the blessing of this glorious face
of Lord Shiva.
