Meaning of the Prayer Song:
So far, wandering too much, this poor being has become tired.
Oh Master, this helpless being is to be relieved by You.
This animal (monkey) of low branches does not have mental
maturity to distinguish what is doable and what not;
Beating it up, seeing its grin, what is the use?
Notes:
1. Etavantam - so far; bhramana - wandering; nichayam - many; prApita - got;
varAkaH - wretched; shrAnta - pained; adhunA - now; vyapagata - disappeared;
santADya - beaten; dashana - tooth.
2. Like the captured monkey used in amusements,
I have been going all around the place! I am tired of all the
wandering. I am so stupid to not even realize what is appropriate and
what is not. If You beat me, I will react with a grin.
Seeing that what is that You would get?
So, please liberate me, my Lord!
