Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:

Everything is part of that Yagya. From that Yagya emerges the Rig and Sama.
From that Yagya emerge the meters and the Yajus.

Notes:

1. jaj~jirE - emerge.

2. The co-emergence of the Vedas has beentold in the Veda itself.
Rig veda is meterical hymns. Samaveda is the songs of those hymns.
Yajus is a combination of prosadic and meterical hymns.
(Atharva though a separate veda with unique hymns, it is similar
instructure to Rig. Hence it is sometimes categorized in Rig and
thesfore, Vedas get called trayi or three).
Rig is chanted for the invovation. Yajus guides the rite. Saman is
sung for pleasing the deity that emerges in the rite.
All these great Vedas emerged from the Yagya of the Supreme.
