Meaning of the Prayer Mantra:
May the weapons of Rudra exclude me!
May the anger of the Powerful Lord as well exclude!
May the bows of the Liberal Lord not get tied!
May the Bountiful bless the little ones and the sons.
Notes:
1. pariNa - go around; hEti - weapon; vRujyA - exclude;
tvEShas - energy; maghava - munificent; mIDhvas - bountiful;
stOkAya - little; tanaya - son.
2. Should the all merciful God show anger? Can that Lord
use the weapon on us? Yes, the Lord could! When we
need to be corrected the Lord feeds us back some of the
effects of our ill karma making us feel and correct ourselves.
This is like the parent disciplining the child. Even though we
are responsible for the misery on us, we seek the mercy of the
Lord, so that we do not suffer much in the process and this
prayer itself corrects us from the ill karma as well.
