Notes: 1. The purANam narrated here is that of dArukAsura. The demon who harmed the devotees and the world was killed by the God. His place is called dArukAvanam. Here stands one of the jyOtirlingam - nAgEshvarar. (nAgEsham dArukAvanE. The listing of 12 jyotirlingas could be found at /siddhanta/sp/spjyoti.htm ) Please note that dAruka mentioned in this purANam is different from the tAraka killed by shrI skandha. 2. This padhikam is called dasapurANam. Out of the eighteen purANas 10 sing the glory of Lord shiva very elaborately. They are 1. shiva, 2. bhaviShya, 3. mArkkaNDEya, 4. linga, 5. skandha, 6. varAha, 7. vAmana, 8. matsya, 9. kUrma, 10. brahmANDa. Since this padhikam takes some of the key stories from these purANas, this padhikam is known to be dacapurANam.
