திருஞானசம்பந்தர் அருளிய தேவாரம் தலம் : திருப்புகலி பண் : காந்தார பஞ்சமம் திருவிராகம் மூன்றாம் திருமுறை திருச்சிற்றம்பலம் இயலிசை எனும் பொருளின் திறமாம் புயலன மிடறுடைப் புண்ணியனே கயலன அரிநெடுங்கண்ணியொடும் அயலுலகு அடிதொழ அமர்ந்தவனே. கலனாவது வெண்டலை கடிபொழிற் புகலி தன்னுள் நிலன் நாள்தொறும் இன்புற நிறைமதி அருளினனே. திருச்சிற்றம்பலம்

Meaning of the Prayer Song:

Oh, the Excellence of the things - prose and music! Oh the Virtuous Who has the throat resembling cloud! Oh, One Who sat along with the Lady of long eyes with stripes that resemble the carp, with the Feet worshipped by the other worlds (too)! (Your) Bowl is skull! Oh the One Who gave the replete mind in the Pugali of fragrant gardens for the earth to rejoice every day!

1. puyal - cloud; ari - lines in the white of the eye; kalan - vessel/bowl. 2. iyalisai enum poruLin thiRamAm The fruit as well as excellence of Tamil is in hailing Lord Shiva. If not it becomes essenceless. c.f. வாயிருந் தமிழே கற்று ஆளுறா ஆயிரஞ் சமண் - அப்பர் ஆரியத்தொடு செந்தமிழ்ப் பயன் அறிகிலா ஈனர் - சம்பந்தர் 3. ayalulaku adithoza amarn-thavanE The Lord of Pugali is worshipped even by the celestials. Refer to the sthala puranam. 4. n-ilan n-ALthoRum inpuRa n-iRaimathi aruLinanE By worshipping the Lord shiva one gets the fulfilled mind - like our great Sambandhar.
