Meaning of the Prayer Song:

Leaving away the sayings of Jains who do not cover their shame and Buddhists who do not have a protection, the Lord, Who does not know misdeed, is residing rock solid at the Kokudi floral temple of Thirukkarupariyalur.

Notes:

1. aRRam - shame; Atham - support/protection; Kokudi - A type of Mullai flower; kaRRena - like a rock. 2. kuRRam aRiyAtha perumAn Lord Shiva is ever just in His actions. His action, be it blessing compassionately or blessing ferociously - are ever just. In fact the bull which is the vehicle of God symbolizes the justice of God Shiva. Sambandhar reiterates this point in multiple places in thevaram c.f. பழியில் புகழாய் திங்கள் சூடினரேனும் திரிபுரம் எரித்தனரேனும் எங்கும் எங்கள் பிரானார் புகழலது இகழ் பழி இலரே 3. Athamili puththar Buddhist do not believe in God. For them ultimately it is Sunya - Maya. So they are hapless people that they cannot seek the support of the Divine power!
